Schools are known for producing bright sparks but thanks to solar power, North Lanarkshire Council is now generating electricity at local schools. Solar panels are being installed in more than a third of primary and secondaries and will help the council to produce renewable green energy and generate savings at local schools. The Photo Voltaic (PV) panels are being installed on the roofs of more than a third of schools across the authority. The council will then sell electricity to the National Grid. Currently 23 schools are fitted with the panels, bringing in around £25,000 of income to date.
