Solar panels and wind turbines could become a regular sight in Frome as the town attempts to become carbon neutral. The Frome Renewable Energy Co-op’s (FRECo) has launched a community share offer and has already raised £50,000 towards two solar panel schemes in the town. The share issue will raise money to finance solar panels on the Frome Medical Centre’s roof and a new solar powered community stand for Frome Town Football Club. The organisation has also revealed ambitious plans to raise £10 million in the next five years to fund further projects such as wind turbines and other schemes using hydro technologies.
