We’ve just launched an investment opportunity into two renewable energy schemes, both 100% community owned – a hydro electric scheme (off Killington Reservoir) and a solar pv array (off the HQ of the Lake District National Park). The projects are projected to pay an average of 5% interest per annum over 20 years, as well as having the potential to attract 30%-50% tax relief on your initial investment. We also expect to reinvest over £45,000 in local environmental and community projects. The share offers aims to raise £305,000 by September 1st 2015, with £250 as a minimum investment and £50,000 as a maximum. We want to ensure that communities in Cumbria benefit from renewable energy generation which is sensitive and which use local businesses to install and manage the projects. If Community Energy Cumbria (CEC) attracts enough votes and wins a regional award of £12,500 from Marks and Spencer’s Energy Fund, it will transform the chances of our project delivering meaningful benefits to local communities across Cumbria.
