The government has announced £10m of fresh funding to help communities seeking to install renewable energy projects in towns and cities, but has backtracked on plans to offer feed-in tariff payments to large-scale community energy projects with up to 10MW in capacity. Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Davey is today visiting a community-owned solar array at a brewery in East Sussex, where he will confirm details of the new Urban Community Energy Fund, inviting English community groups and charities to apply for financial support from the new fund.
